A huge fire broke out near Thermal Niz Kadamoni area in Assam's Dibrugarh town on Friday. 5 persons, including a woman and two children, died in the incident. Three houses were gutted completely in the fire. The fire broke out early in the morning (at around 1:30 am) today.

The fire, which spread quickly after cylinders blasted, reportedly gutted many houses.
The deceased have been identified as Vishal Sonar, Maya Devi, Sankar Sonar, Sibu Sonar (all members of the same family) and their domestic worker Nunu.
A Magisterial inquiry has been initiated into the incident. Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has expressed grief over the incident.
