Assam’s first woman powerlifter, Dr Anindita Priyadarshini Das has clinched four Gold medals in the Woman’s Powerlifting at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship held in Canada.
The Championship is being held at St. John’s Newfound, Canada from September 15 to 21.
Hailing from Duliajan, Assam, Das is a Gynaecologist as well as a woman entrepreneur.
Speaking with Inside Northeast, Dr Kandarba Das, Anindita’s husband said, “It is indeed a proud moment for all of us. She has brought honour to the country and her home state.”
52-year-old Anindita has been pursuing powerlifting since the past two years. Her husband informed that she started working out from the gym itself and then later she focused on powerlifting.
Anindita is currently in Canada and is unreachable over call. However, her husband shared about her determination and dedication towards powerlifting.

He said, “Powerlifting is not very popular in Assam. At the age of 52, she has got so much determination. I support her completely in this.”
Anindita Priyadarshini Das’s family resides in Duliajan. The doctor has two daughters currently pursuing their careers in New Delhi and Kansas.
