53 inmates in Assam's Dibrugarh central jail test COVID-19 positive

DIBRUGARH: A total of 53 inmates in the Dibrugarh central jail has tested positive for COVID-19 .
Jibon Moran, the ULFA(I) chief who was recently arrested and is currently in judicial custody, tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday in the Dibrugarh Central Jail.
There is a total of 530 inmates in the jail as of date.
Of the total inmates, 223 were tested yesterday and among them, 53 found positive while the rest 171 tested negative.
One inmate was tested positive on Monday.

As per the jail sources, the COVID-19 tests of the remaining 306 inmates will be done soon.
All the positive cases are kept in isolation.
In the past 24 hours, Dibrugarh reported 6 deaths related to COVID-19, and 445 new cases of the infection.
On the other hand, Assam reported 5835 news cases of the virus and 73 deaths in the past 24 hours.
