60-year-old arrested for ‘raping’ minor girl

Morigaon (Assam), August 24, 2018:

A 60-year-old man was thrashed by the locals in a Morigaon village for allegedly raping a ten-year-old girl.

The locals alleged the man, identified as Karkon Pator, raped the minor near an isolated area in Sarbaru. He was seen by some children who raised an alarm. Soon, the locals turned up at the site and started thrashing him. Later, he was handed over to the police.

Speaking to InsideNE, Morigaon Superintendent of Police Swapneel Deka, rubbished reports that the man’s finger was chopped off by the locals.

“As the person was beaten up with bamboo sticks, he received a cut on one of his fingers. He is currently in police custody and will be produced in the court on Saturday,” Deka said.
