The Assam Police is celebrating the 69th 'Assam Police Day' across the state. To commemorate the occasion, the Assam Police has organized many competitions and functions at the local levels to encourage the talents of the state to strive for perfection.
Earlier today, the 69th Assam Police Day was celebrated at the Police Reserve in Assam's Nagaon. The ceremony was attended by Shri Shankar Brata Raimedhi IPS, SP Nagaon as Chief Guest. Rosie Kalita APS, ASP HQ, other senior police and paramilitary officers and with members of VDP and public attended the programme.

The chief guest mentioned in his speech that since it’s very inception, the Assam Police has been facing many challenges which have been successfully tackled by the personnel of Assam Police. The good work of Nagaon Police has been appreciated in the form of Inspector Sailen Deuri being awarded the DGP Commendation Medal (Silver) 2019.
Meanwhile, the Hailakandi Police also elebrated the 69th Assam Police Day at district headquarters and at all Stations, Out Posts and Patrol Posts. Various events were also organised to mark the occasion.
Assam Police comes under direct control of Department of Home Affairs, Government of Assam. The Assam Police is headed by Director General of Police, and the current DGP of Assam Police is Kuladhar Saikia, IPS.

To mark the occasion, the Assam Police sent out a Tweet that read, "Today, as we celebrate the 69th #AssamPoliceDay, we salute the supreme sacrifice of those who laid down their lives for the Nation. The history of Assam Police is a saga replete with the highest examples of indomitable courage & unflinched devotion."
