GAURIPUR: In a tragic incident a seven-year-old boy drowned to death in a river while taking bath in Assam's Dhubri district here.
The incident took place at Tipkai river in Debottar Raipur Part lll, in Gauripur when the victim who had gone to bathe in the river and were swept away by strong currents, said OC Himakshi Nath of Gauripur police station.
The seven-year-old boy has been identified as Yakub Ali, son of Abdul Khalek.
Yakub went for a bath near the river and accidentally fell into the strong currents of the river site near his home at Debottar Raipur on Monday evening.
His parents and the locals of the village have tried every possibility to find Yakub but couldn't find him.

Later they informed the nearby police station about the incident.
Following the information, the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) divers, one section of 'Quick Action Team' of 48 battalion CRPF, Gauripur, and Gauripur Police rushed to the spot and started the search operation in the Tipkai river early morning today.
The body of the minor boy was recovered from the Ghegeralga bridge following the Tipkai river.
The SDRF team dove into the water and successfully recovered the body of the boy after nearly two hours of searching.
Because of the grim flood condition, the river's water level has risen to the point where it is no longer visible due to which finding the dead body took a little longer, said an official.
