70 Bags of Ganja worth Rs 20 Lakh seized in Lakhimpur

Narayanpur (Assam), September 3, 2018:

The Lakhimpur Police seized a massive amount of ganja worth Rs 20 lakh from a truck in Narayanpur, North Lakhimpur on Sunday.

Police sources informed that a police team based on specific inputs started an operation to track a truck which was carrying suspected narcotics which was coming from Arunachal Pradesh. The police team after a while intercepted a truck bearing registration AS01G7111 on the Tipling flyover in Narayanpur and recovered 70 bags of ganja inside the truck.

Following the recovery, the police team arrested seven persons identified as Hamid Ali, Gurucharan Mandal, Abbas Ali, Abdul Rashid, Tichi Tango, Babu and Manju Dey.

The police are currently investigating the matter as this is the second such incident within a week.
