As a part of the “Shankalp Sikha Yatra”, thousands of protestors belonging to 70 organizations led by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) have gathered at Dispur in Assam to protest against the proposed controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
Protestors from all across the state have been making their move to Dispur that includes KMSS members and 70 other indigenous despite of the imposition of Section 144 CrPC by the administration.
However, many protestors have been obstructed by the police in Topatali, Jagiroad, Baihata, Baksa, Mangaldoi and several other places of Assam. And many were detained by the police on Thursday.
The protestors made it clear that no force can suppress the voice of protest of the common people.
Meanwhile, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi speaking to the media said that as the administration has granted permission for the demonstration, they have all the right to stage a peaceful democratic movement.
