DHEKIAJULI: A total of 87,500 doctors and healthcare workers of Assam have so far been inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines.
This was stated by state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for leading India's fight against the pandemic that left the world economy crippled. He said the Centre has so far issued 6 lakh doses of vaccine to Assam.
He thanked the prime minister for extending assistance to as many as 2.5 crore people of Assam during the COVID-19 outbreak and ensuring that the state overcome the crisis by providing food and healthcare in every corner of the state.

He was speaking in presence of Modi and chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal at a mammoth rally here. Modi was here to launch the Asom Mala scheme and lay foundation of two medical colleges at Biswanath and Charaideo.
Complimenting Modi for helping Assam stand among the top five most developed states of the country, Sarma said Assam had never drawn so much attention of the Centre in the past.
Sarma said it has been the prime minister's initiative that India has also been supplying vaccines to other countries as well.
