Training has been conducted for officers, college teachers and instructors drafted as Zonal and Sector Officers for the ensuing Panchayat election in South Assam’s Hailakandi district on Tuesday.
88 officers, college teachers and instructors have been drafted as Zonal and Sector Officers for free, fair and smooth conduct of the Panchayat election in the district.
Meanwhile, the Assam State Election Commission in a communiqué has made it clear that all Government officials, including civil and police officials ‘engaged’ or ‘drafted’ for Panchayat election duties are ‘deemed to be on deputation to the State Election Commission and are subject to its control, superintendence and discipline as per Section 114(4) of the Assam Panchayat Act, 1994 and hence cannot be relieved or exempted (from election duties) without the prior permission of the Commission’. However, the Commission has no objection to utilising the services of such officials in other ‘priority duties of the State’ without, of course, hampering the Panchayat election related works.
District Development Commissioner and In-charge, Training Cell, FR Laskar disclosed preparations are on for conducting training of the first batch of polling personnel for which venues have been already selected. It may be mentioned that Hailakandi that goes to polls in the second phase on December 9 along with nine other districts has altogether 11 ZPM, 62 APM, 62 GPP and 620 GPM PRI constituencies spread over 600 polling stations.
The first nomination for GPP against West Mohanpur GP under Algapur development block was received by Authorised Officer Sudhendu Das on Tuesday.
