GUWAHATI: The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) today observed Black Day marking the visit of Union home minister Amit Shah to Kokrajhar and Nalbari.

The apex students’ organisation hoisted black flags and set on fire copies of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019 in almost every district of the Brahmaputra Valley demanding repeal of the contentious Act. The AASU has also been demanding detection and deportation of illegal Bangladeshi migrants and withdrawal of draft Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) 2020 notification.

AASU central committee hoisted black flag at Swahid Nyas here.

The AASU has been carrying out an agitational programme against the CAA over the past three days. Students in various districts, including Guwahati, took out torch rallies on Friday, wore black badges and masks on Saturday, the day Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a land documents distribution ceremony in Sivasagar district.
