AASU leader arrested

A local leader of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) was arrested by the police at Nakarchari in Upper Assam’s Jorhat district on Monday for allegedly beating up a trader.

The AASU leader, Pratap Gogoi, was arrested based on a complaint lodged by trader D Parikar, who alleged that Gogoi, along with another person, had beaten him up at his shop as he refused to pay them Rs.5,000 as demanded. He said the money was demanded without any reason. According to Parikar, the whole incident was recorded by a CCTV camera.
