The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) organized Mukali Bihu at Judges Field in Guwahati on Sunday on the first day of the Rongali Bihu.
The AASU has organized the Bihu every year since the days of 'Assam Agitation'. The function was attended by the AASU advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya, president Dipankar Nath, general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi, and all the members of the AASU.
The programme was also attended by renowned people of the state like Assam Sahitya Sabha president Paramananda Rajbongshi, senior artist Chetana Das, flute maestro Prabhat Sharma, singer Tarali Sharma, filmmaker Rima Das, Bihu Samtra Ranjit Gogoi and many more.
The Bihu organized here is unique as the AASU felicitates the winners of Padmashree and Sahitya Akadami awardees of the state.
Speaking to InsideNE, the AASU advisor said that he is hopeful that this Rongali Bihu will bring a new prospect to the people of Assam.
While Lurinjyoti said that the Bihu in here is historic as this has been organized since the Assam Movement, Ranjit Gogoi wished all the people of Assam and the people those residing outside the country. Meanwhile, Assamese actress Rima Das also wished the people and expressed her happiness at attending the Bihu function.
