The All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) kicked off its Bihu/Bwisagu celebrations at Kokrajhar on Monday in the presence of ABSU President Pramod Boro and UPPL's Kokrajhar candidate Urkhao Gwra Brahma.
Addressing the media on the occasion, Pramod Boro said: "Our traditional festival, the Rongali Bihu and Rongali Bwisagu is here. We observe Bihu for seven days. Be it farmers or those in any other profession, Bihu is the favorite of us all. I wish the sadness and sad moments of all those who reside in Assam as well as Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) areas to leave them."
"We have to forget our political differences during this time. I have prayed for the well being of all so that God keeps everyone in his good graces", he said.
He also added that "positive change" is the need of the hour. "I want people to vote for change", he said.
U G Brahma, meanwhile, has urged the political parties to halt their campaigns for a few days in view of the ongoing Bihu celebrations across the state.
