The All Bodo Student’s Union (ABSU) organized a Women’s Day celebration at Nikashi auditorium at Baksa district with the theme ‘Think equal, build smart and innovate for change’.
Rangina Bargayary, ABSU, in a statement, said: “Today with the very thematic statement of International Women’s Day ‘Think Equal, Build Smart and Innovate for Change’ ABSU asserts that there is much more to do in the society where we live. The time had been very crucial for ABSU working on various issues where the most vulnerable sections of the society are the women. They become marginalized due to the gender inequality across various opportunities such as education, economic development and other decision-making processes that goes on in our society.”
She also stated that thinking equally among women and men will ignite the opportunities to be enjoyed equally at all level to progress the humanity and decrease the gender gap and stated that the ongoing programs by women volunteers of ABSU will continue such as women’s cycle rally for change in empowerment of women in education, economic and political equality in the society.
The event was flagged off by ABSU VP Dipen Boro. Various other dignitaries such as Rangina Bargayary, Baksa district DC Bhaskar Pegu, Swarna Prabha Chainary (HoD, Bodo Department, Gauhati University), Junu Swargiary (Principal, GKB Junior College) were also present.
