Amid much speculation, BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary finally announced Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma as the Contender for the Lok Sabha throne from the only BTC Lok Sabha Constituency of Kokrajhar. The BTC Chief, while expressing faith that his chosen candidate shall emerge victorious and grab the much-coveted seat for his Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) party, Hagrama also admitted that the All Bodo Student’s Union is the biggest challenge to the BPF, at the moment.
“In Kokrajhar, our only challenge is the ABSU and no one else. In the rest of Assam, BJP will have to contend with parties like AGP, Congress, etc. But in Kokrajhar, we will only be challenged by the ABSU.”
Speaking wxclusively to InsideNE about the BPF’s decision to nominate Pramila, Mohilary said: “It is good news that our candidate is female. In fact, the situation in Kokrajhar is thus that we can only win the Lok Sabha constituency by fielding a female candidate.”
Mohilary also stated that the BPF party is committed to fighting the election at Kokrajhar by itself, despite being allied with the BJP. “BJP is leaving the Kokrajhar seat for us. As regards the other areas of Assam, we will help BJP.”
