The All Changlang District Student's Union (ACDSU) in a letter to Additional Deputy Commissioner, Miao today requested for immediate review of the permission granted to green tea leaves purchasers of Assam issued on May 8, Vide No. M/COVID - 19/ PERMISSION/2020-12. The tea agents of Assam purchases green tea leaves from local Singpho and Tangsa tea growers of Miao, Namphai, Kharsang and Namchick areas in Changlang district on a daily basis.
The district student's apex body reminded the Additional Deputy Commissioner about the recent detection of Corona positive case during Rapid Antigen Test conducted at Namchick check gate on the truck driver who came to collect green tea leaves.
ACDSU in it's letter recalled the statement of State Health Secretary P. Parthiban who disclosed that truck drivers carrying essential items and vendors are the source of transmission in Itanagar Capital Region.

"Since Corona virus is very contagious and easily transmissible, there is an apprehension that the truck driver in question who has been tested positive at Namchickmight have come in close contacts with many villagers while transacting their green tea leaves", the letter said, while urging the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Miao to immediately review the permission which was granted in the month of May. It urged the ADC to regrant them permission for transhift system of transportation so that the trucks coming from Assam can be barred from entering Namchick check gate to contain community spread of the virus.
The ACDSU has the apprehension that if truck drivers coming from Assam are not prohibited immediately from entering Namchick check gate, the possibility of community spread in Miao administrative sub - division cannot be ruled out.
