Guwahati, July 19, 2019:

Renowned Assamese actor Jatin Bora has come forward to donate a handsome sum of Rupees 1 lakh for the people affected by the latest wave of floods in Assam.

Bora directly handed over a cheque bearing the amount for the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. Moreover, the 'Hiya Diya Niya' actor has also urged people to help the flood-affected people through social media platforms. He said: "The situation of floods in the state that occurs every year is rather unfortunate. Today, I am donating a sum of Rupees 1 lakh to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund and urge people to come forward to help the sons and daughters of Assamese soil."

Bora is one of several celebrities who have come forward to address the flood calamity in Assam. Several others, including Virat Kohli, have expressed their deep anguish over the situation.

Meanwhile, ‘Action superstar’ Akshay Kumar has announced that he will be making a donation of a whopping sum of Rupees one crore (!) towards the ‘rescue efforts’ for the animals suffering due to the floods in Kaziranga National Park in Assam,  which has been almost completely submerged.

Not only this, the big-hearted star has donated a further Rupees one crore to the Chief Minister’s relief fund.

Saying that he is “heartbroken” to know about the devastation caused by the floods across 30 districts in the state, the Bollywood hunk has offered to donate a crore each for the rescue efforts at Kaziranga and also for the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund, totalling a sum of Rupees two crores.
