Actor-Turned-Politician Angoorlata Appointed as Vice-Chairman of Kalakshetra

Guwahati, November 18, 2019:

Assamese Actor-turned-politician Angoorlata Deka has been appointed as the new Vice-Chairman of Guwahati’s Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra on Monday.

Deka, who represents the Batadroba constituency of Assam, represents the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

The actor’s notable films include Bakor Putek, Junda Eman Gunda and Gaane Ki Aane.

It may be mentioned here that Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra is a cultural institution that includes a cultural museum, library and various facilities for preserving, demonstrating and performing cultural items.

Kalashetra is governed by a body of executives, selected by the Assam Government’s Cultural Department and is headed by a Director of the Assam Civil Service or Indian Administrative Service cadre.
