Additional chief secretary of home, political and forest & environment, Alok Kumar has been appointed as the new chief secretary of Assam.
Alok Kumar will take charge as the new chief secretary from September 1 after incumbent chief secretary TY Das retires on August 31.
He is a 1984 batch IAS officer of Assam-Meghalaya cadre and he has also served as the secretary of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC), which is the country’s top anti-corruption body.
After Alok Kumar takes over the new charges, additional cheif secretary Kumar Sanjay Krishna will be given the charges to look after the home department while additional chief secretary will take look after the finance department.
Additional chief secretary Ravi Capoor will also be given additional charges of the forest & environment.
