AGP released candidates list for final phase; check names here

GUWAHATI:  The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) today named its candidates for the final phase of Assam elections to be held on April 6.

Big gun food and civil supplies minister Phani Bhusan Choudhury has been named nominee for the AGP’s traditional fort Bongaigaon, while former minister Kamala Kanta Kalita will take on Rekibuddin Ahmed of Congress in Chhaygaon.

Sitting MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita has been named Guwahati West candidate and Bhupen Rai for Abhayapuri (North). Singer Kalpana Patowary will contest from Sarukhetri.

The other candidates include Javed Ismail (Mankachar), Purnendu Banik (Abhayapuri South), Jyotish Das (Goalpara East), Sheikh Shah Alam (Goalpara West), Ranjit Deka (Bhabanipur), Gunindra Nath Das (Barpeta), Rabiul Hussain (Chenga) and Jyoti Prasad Das (Boko).
