GUWAHATI: After the resignation of two sitting MLAs from Assam Congress to join the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the same exodus to shake the foundation of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) as its Bhabanipur legislator Phanidhar Talukdar has tendered his resignation from the primary membership of the party and his position.
Talukdar was the Secretary of AIUDF. Though Talukdar has not clarified his reason for resignation, he asserted that it's is due to the larger interest of the people of his constituency and the people of Assam.

This came into effect amid the speculation of Phanidhar Talukdar joining the saffron party. Talukdar was seen meeting many BJP leaders in recent times as well which he termed as "political meetings" not personal.
Recently in a press conference, AIUDF spokesman Aminul Islam said that Phanidhar Talukdar has many charges against him and BJP is taking advantage of those to make Talukdar don the saffron robes.
It is a day after the Assam Congress has broken its alliance with the AIUDF as they believed that AIUDF is being pro-BJP these days.
