GUWAHATI: After the Congress released its list of candidates for the second phase of Assam assembly elections, its ally All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) named its candidates for three seats of the Barak Valley.
The Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF has nominated Abdul Aziz from Badarpur, Zakir Hussain Laskar from Hailakandi and Samsul Huda from Bilasipara (East).
Seat sharing among the two parties have witnessed high drama over the past couple of weeks. The Congress finally sided with its party workers by refusing to part with several key seats the AIUDF had been demanding.

Several senior Congress leaders and sitting MLAs have been denied party tickets though. Senior leaders such as Ardhendu Dey and Kalyan Gogoi have already resigned from the grand old party.
The AIUDF had been demanding candidature from 32 seats. They are, however, offered only 20 seats by the Congress-led alliance.
