Yesterday, the Congress party had urged the former Cabinet Minister to "clarify her position" in regards to the media reports speculating about her shifting political base to the rival BJP camp.

"The reports of your plans to join the BJP that have been circulating for around 2 months now have confused us," Assam Congress President Ripun Bora said in a letter, before exhorting the Golaghat MLA to "clarify her stand" regarding her stance on the matter.

At the same time, senior Congressmen, such as Pradyut Bordoloi, have appealed the MLA to "reconsider her decision" to shift to the rival party ahead of the polls.
