Guwahati, January 8, 2019:
Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi along with Assam Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) President Palash Sangma condemned the government’s decision to pass the Bill in the Lok Sabha and bowed down in shame for not being able stop Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 from getting amended.
Both the KMSS and AJYCP leaders stood up in the middle of the press conference after receiving information of the Bill being passed by the Lok Sabha.
Addressing the media, KMSS leader Akhil Gogoi said, “We have stood up to condemn this decision of the government and we are bowing down in shame that despite the thousands of protests the government has failed us.”
It may be mentioned that the Parliament witnessed many opposition leaders standing up against the Bill. However, the Bill got passed.
