Akhil Gogoi holds closed door meeting with Pijush Hazarika; raises questions ahead of by polls

GUWAHATI: GUWAHATI: Raijor Dol Supremo Akhil Gogoi reportedly joined a closed door meeting with Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika at Assam House in Delhi on Sunday.

Ahead of the by-poll elections in the state, the news of the top secret deliberations has raised several questions and speculations.

According the sources, the sole purpose of the peasant leader's visit to Delhi was to meet Hazarika.

The by poll elections are expected to be held towards the end of the year for 6 constituencies. Out of these, Mariani and Thowra seats are crucial for the peasant leader.

Recently, Gogoi also had a meeting with Assam Assam Congress chief Bhupen Borah in Sivasagar. The meeting was reportedly held to evaluate possibilities of jointly fighting the assembly bypolls.

Even though the meeting was inconclusive, the parties decided to carry forward the discussions in the upcoming days, reports said.

The Raijor Dol leader has been in close touch with Pijush Hazarika as well as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and since past few days, sources said.
