Guwahati, March 13, 2019:

Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi had some stern words for the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) and described the party as a “party with no principles” following the party’s reunion with the BJP after walking out of the alliance during the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill ruckus.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Akhil Gogoi condemned the AGP-BJP alliance said that Assam is under threat once again as the contentious Bill is likely to be passed thanks to the alliance of the AGP and the BJP.

“Alliance with the BJP is a betrayal of the highest order. With this move, the AGP party has betrayed the people of Assam and their leaders have betrayed the sentiment of regionalism in Assam”, Akhil Gogoi Gogoi lamented. Gogoi also informed that the KMSS had urged the party to contest the elections alone, but the leaders of the party had refused to listen to the KMSS’ advice. Gogoi has further vowed to oppose the AGP-BJP alliance during the Lok Sabha polls.

Meanwhile, the Ministers who had resigned during the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill ruckus, Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta, and Phani Bhushan Choudhury have decided to withdraw their resignation.
