Life in Assam has been brought to a screeching halt by All Koch Rajbangshi Students Union (AKRSU)-called 'bandh' that has been called today.

The 12-hour bandh has been called in demand of unconditional inclusion of omitted Koch-Rajbongshis omitted from the NRC, as well as the demand for 'Kamatapur'.

AKRSU members spilled onto to the streets to ensure that the 'bandh' -- called from 5 am on Friday onwards -- is observed by the people.
Moreover, supporters of the organization also burned effigies of the NRC Coordinator Prateek Hajela, for the exclusion of the Koch-Rajbongshis community from the NRC.
The protesters further chanted many slogans against Hajela and the ruling BJP party during the early-morning demonstration.

The bandh has it's affected in Goreswar, Sivasagar, Sadiya Chapor, Udalguri, and other districts.
