Guwahati, September 15, 2019:

All Assam Bengali Youth Students' Federation (AABYSF) and All BTC Bengali Youth Students' Federation protesting against the recent NRC on Sunday said that all Hindu Bengalis of Assam must be added to it because they people are sons of the soil.

The protesters sat for 3 hours in protest in Tamulpur's Kumarikata.

The protesters said that the government and NRC officials have been harassing the Hindu Bengalis in the name of verification and also by excluding them from the final list.

During the protest, former BTC EM Rabindra Biswas said that the Bengali Hindus are sons of the soil and there is no way they the Bengalis will accept the decision of them being excluded from the NRC.

He added, "We want this NRC to be discarded as it has so many errors. We will give our blood but we will never go to an FT to prove our citizenship because we are sons of the soil and by no means, we will accept any Hindu Bengali being termed as a foreigner."

He added, "If Sarbananda Sonowal cannot take care of the NRC, he should step down from the home department as well as the Chief Minister's seat. We will never accept this NRC with so many errors."

During the protest, the participants raised slogans against the BJP government and NRC coordinator Prateek Hajela.

It may be mentioned on Saturday, the NRC authorities of Assam published the list showing the fates of all 3.30 crore applicants who were part of the NRC activities in Assam. The list has been published online. The list was meant to root out illegal immigrants in the state.

The latest list has been published after 19 lakh applicants were excluded from the final NRC released on August 31. This final list includes the names of those who have been accepted as citizens, and also those who have been rejected and those whose appeals are pending.
