ALTERCATION OVER CHHATH PUJA VENUE LEAVES SEVERAL INJURED

Guwahati, November 10, 2018:

An altercation over Chhath puja venue took place at Raja Ali area in Tinsukia on Saturday.

The squabble started after the Railway authorities did not give permission to organize Chhath Puja at Railway Colony in Puroni Pukhuri.

The locals argued that they have been organizing the festival at the venue since ages.

The altercation soon turned into a major clash. Railway authorities had to deploy Railway protection force (RPF) personnel to control the situation. However, the agitated people created a ruckus and pelted stones at the RPF jawans.

Two RPF jawans along with seven protesters were injured in the incident.
