Another accused in SI exam scam Saruj Sarma arrested

Another accused in the SI exam scam Saruj Sarma was arrested on Friday from the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati.

Accused Sarma had been absconding since his name came to light. Sarma’s name was revealed by the prime accused in the scam PK Dutta during interrogation by the police.

Saruj was associated with the Akshay Telecommunication, a company which got the sub-contract for conducting SI recruitment scam. The company was allegedly involved in the question paper leak case. Earlier, it’s office at Bongaigaon was sealed by the police.

Earlier, after a gap of 15 days since the SI recruitment scam was reported, former mDeputy Inspector General of Assam Police Prasanta Kumar Dutta had been arrested by West Bengal Police. The scam came to light following the question paper leak connected with the recruitment of 597 SIs in Assam. Dutta was arrested after he was handed over to the Police by the officials who had detained him at the immigration outpost at Pani Tanki Kakarvitta in Nepal on Tuesday morning. The West Bengal police handed over Dutta to the Assam Police late on Tuesday night.
