GUWAHATI: In continuance with the anti-drug drive by Assam Police, in the past 24 hours four people have been arrested from separate locations.
Based on a tip-off, Lumding Police in Hojai district has arrested three drug peddlers, while Tinsukia Police arrested one.
The drug peddlers arrested in Lumding, have been identified as-- Navraj Chakraborty, Sanjeev Dey, Babul Dey alias Boga Babu.
While the one, arrested in Tinsukia district have been identified as Papul Moran.

Babul Dey is believed to be a 4th-grade Lumding Railway Station worker, although police stated this will be confirmed after verification.
Police also seized seven containers containing brown sugar and approximately 37 grams of opium from their possession.
Speaking to the media, S.K. Sharma, in charge of Lumding Police Station, said, “Following an order from Hojai Superintendent of Police (SP) Barun Purkayastha, I along with sub-inspector of police, Nilutpal Bhuyan and other staffs conducted a raid in the Lumding area and successfully arrested three peddlers along with seven brown sugar containers from their possession."
A case has been registered at the Lumding Police Station under section 21,21(A, 21(A) of The Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
As part of the state government's anti-drug drive, drugs worth Rs 170 crore were recovered in recent months and have been destroyed by the government in a phase-wise manner.
