The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) has dismissed the candidature of alleged “rhino poacher” Dilwar Hussain on Congress Ticket.
APCC spokesperson, Rhituparna Konwar said, "After it was alleged that the presidential candidate for the Sowaguri Gaon Panchayat is involved in multiple poaching cases, an internal inquiry was ordered by APCC president Ripun Bora. After the allegations were found to be true, Dilwars candidature was dismissed."
The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee gave candidature ticket to an alleged “rhino poacher” to contest for the presidential seat in Sowaguri Gaon Panchayat in Biswanath.
Hussain was arrested earlier on charges of rhino poaching in Bagori range in Kaziranga National Park. He was out on bail but his case is still running at the court.
However, this issue has brought criticism towards the Congress as well.
It may be mentioned, that earlier AGP gave a ticket to another alleged poacher, Ganesh Doley.
