Claiming that the people of the region have accused Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA of Khumtai, Mrinal Saikia’s involvement in the incident, Bora demanded a high-level inquiry into the indiscriminate firing at the Mandal president’s residence.
The APCC President pointed out Mrinal Saikia’s statement where he had urged his supporters to attack CAA protesters and recalled Himanta Biswa Sarma’s statement where he had said, “protest should be stronger and violent”.
Citing these examples, Ripun Bora questioned, “Are these statements of the BJP leaders not provocative?”
