Army Jawans Rescue Drowning Lady in Assam's Barpeta, Lauded for Bravery

Barpeta, February 17, 2020:

Displaying extreme gallantry, army jawans on alert rescued a lady from drowning in Barpeta district of Assam.

The PRO of the Ministry of Defence uploaded a few pictures of the army jawans' gallant act alongwith the caption: "Alert Army personnel deployed in Barpeta District , Assam displayed utmost gallantry and chivalry to rescue a woman from drowning in a nearby river. The exemplary leadership and exceptional act of bravery saved a precious life."

Yesterday at about 12:15 pm in the afternoon, Sub Layakram and Hav Ashok Bhakhar of the 9th Jat Regiment saved a local who had slipped and fallen into Nakanda Nala from a bridge in Barpeta District in lower Assam.

Immediately acting on the information the JCO and NCO showed great presence of mind and without further ado, jumped into the drain to rescue the drowning lady.

Later, a video of the jawans rescuing the lady was shared online and garnered praise among netizens, who lauded the men in uniform for their gallantry for their dedication, bravery, and presence of mind.
