Diphu, June 16, 2019:

A Unit of the Red Horns Division organised an Ex-Servicemen Rally as part of 'year of next of kin' at Diphu Club on Friday in East Karbi Anglong, Assam.

The rally was part of a regularly executed initiative to reach out to the veterans' fraternity as well as 'Veer Naris' and help amelioration of their problems.

The day long rally was a medium for the Ex-Servicement to get a platform for not only their issues regarding documentation and pension disbursal, but also to interact with district administration.

More than 600 Ex-Servicemen participated in the rally including Veterans and Veer Naris from Morigaon, Sonitpur, Nagaon, East and West Karbi Anglong Districs.

There were stalls of ECHS, ESM Updation Centre, ZSWO, Pension Desks & Zila Sainik Board. Civil Welfare Agencies and other agencies like NABARD and SBI Rural Self Employment Training Institute were present for assistance to the Veterans and Veer Naris alongwith a medical camp at the Venue.

The Veer Naris and Physically challenged Veterans were also felicitated by the Red Horns Division during the ceremony.

The 21st Mountain Division (Red Horn Division) is headquartered at Rangia town in Assam. It includes the 77 Mountain Brigade, and, as of January 2010, 315 Field Regiment (India) of the Regiment of Artillery, based at Udalguri.

It falls under the IV Corps, which had been disbanded within the British Indian Army after the Second World War, but was reestablished in 1961.
