Yesterday, Arnab Goswami was arrested by Mumbai police in an abetment of suicide case. The journalist has now been sent to 14 days judicial custody.

Within hours of having arrested Goswami on charges of abetting suicide in 2018, Mumbai Police registered a fresh FIR against him Wednesday evening. The FIR was for resisting Mumbai Police officials from arresting him when they were at his Mumbai residence in the morning today. Sections 353, 504, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) were invoked in the new FIR.

Speaking to media today, Singh sounded upbeat about toppling the BJP-led government in the upcoming polls in 2021.

"Assam's people have already set the mission. The Congress party is with all sections of the society -- be it tribal, minority, or Hindu. The BJP, on the other hand, is trying to destroy the unity in the country," Singh said, adding, "The people of Assam have decided to uproot the BJP from state after 4 months when the elections are held."

Singh further claimed that the people of Assam -- be it the youths, the women, farmers, tea workers, or the tribals -- are "unhappy" with the party and its Government.
