Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) leader Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday accused Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of playing ‘Hindu-Muslim’ politics. At the same time, Gogoi pointed out that the maximum number of attacks on India by Pakistan has happened during the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) rule.
Launching a scathing attack on his bête noire Himanta Biswa Sarma, Akhil said, “I find Himanta Biswa Sarma’s comment, that if BJP does not win the Lok Sabha elections Assam Vidhan Sabha or Parliament will be attacked by Pakistan, baffling. It is because the maximum attacks in India or on security personnel have happened during the BJP Government. Maximum loss of Hindu lives has happened during the BJP rule. In fact, Masood Azhar was released from India by the BJP.”
Gogoi also stated that the Finance Minister should be arrested for his allegedly ‘communal’ statements. “Biswa Sarma is playing the ‘Hindu-Muslim’ political game, for the sake of a few votes and going against the secular nature of the Indian Constitution. He has stooped very low and thus, he should be arrested as this Minister is dividing Hindus and Muslims to win elections,” he added.
