Three consecutive earthquakes made its impact on various parts of Northeastern India today, including Assam.
The first earthquake hit with 5.6 magnitude at around 2:52 pm and its impact were felt for as long as ten seconds. The earthquake originated in East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Its origin has been reported from Latitude: 27.7 N and Longitude: 92.8 E. The earthquake originated at a depth of 10 km.

The second earthquake of magnitude 3.8 occurred at around 3 pm (15:04:58 IST) at the same epicentre: East Kameng district of Arunachal Pradesh. Its origin has been reported from Latitude:27.4 N and Longitude: 92.9 E with a depth of 10 Km.
The third and the last earthquake of magnitude 4.9 occurred at around 3:21 pm (15:21:59 IST) with its epicentre at Kurung Kumey of Arunachal Pradesh. Its origin has been reported from Latitude:27.9 N and Longitude: 93.3 E with a depth of 95 Km.
Speaking to Inside Northeast, Atul Kumar Singh, working scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre, said that though the epicentre is at Arunachal Pradesh, the impact was felt in Assam as well. The first earthquake was of greater magnitude, so the impact was high in Assam but the later two with low magnitude earthquakes which had a very minute impact.
