ASDC calls for 24-hour bandh

Diphu (Assam), Sept1, 2018:

The Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) has called for a “hill district-wide total shutdown” for 24 hours from 5am of September 4 to 5am of September 5 demanding separate statehood.

The bandh has been supported by Karbi Students’ Association and Karbi Nimso Chingthur Asong.

The organization has for long been demanding the creation of a hill state, comprising Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, and West Karbi Anglong. It submitted a number of representations to the Centre as well as state governments but the demand has remained unfulfilled.
