The urn containing the ashes of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee is arriving Guwahati this afternoon for immersion in the Brahmaputra.
As per the schedule, the urn will arrive at Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and taken to BJP Assam headquarters located in Hengrabari area of the city, where it will be kept for party leaders and workers, besides general public, to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
The ashes will be brought from the airport to the party headquarters in a rally via VIP point, Dharapur, Maligaon, Kamakhya Gate, Fancy Bazar, Mahavir Udayan, Ulubari and Christianbasti where people can pay homage en route.
Party sources said after the ashes are kept for the night at the Karbi Tribal Yuva Sangha field near the party’s State headquarters, the urn will be taken out in a procession at 1 pm on Thursday via Ganeshguri, RG Baruah Road and Silpukhuri to Latasil playground and kept there for public to pay homage, before being immersed in the Brahmaputra in Fancy Bazar area at 4 pm.
