Ever since the terror attacks on Pulwama where 49 CRPF jawans were martyred during a terror attack, there have been heightened tensions along the Indo-Pak border. The Indian Air Force bombed Balakot where Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were said to be camped out, but there have been conflicting reports about the efficacy of the attacks. While BJP President Amit Shah has claimed that 250 terrorists were killed, some reports claim that only trees and empty ground were hit. There have been allegations that the BJP is trying to politicize the bombings before the elections.
Reacting to these allegations, Conrad K Sangma, while addressing the Press in Guwahati, said: “Whether there is politicization or not, it is up to the people to judge. But as a political leader and CM of a state, I stand by the armed forces. I think what they did should not be diluted by looking into numbers and asking for ‘proof’ is a kind of insult for the armed forces. National security is something we should not compromise on and no politics should be played” he said.
