Assam Police Department have arrested 1,074 people who violated lockdown rule with coronavirus cases on the rise.
Assam Police, which has been religiously doing their duties to ensure the lockdown amid coronavirus pandemic is followed by all the citizens of the State on Sunday released data on the number of violation incidents in the State since March 25 till April 5.
"Tough action is being taken by Assam Police against violators of lockdown guidelines. As on April 5, 2020, action taken figures of the entire state of Assam - 794 incidents of violation, 446 cases registered, 1074 people arrested and 4293 vehicles detained," tweeted Assam Police.
It may be mentioned here that the Assam Police Police Department has sent out several messages to the public. One of the many is the “Stay Home” message that has been repeated almost every single day to remind the citizens of their simple duty to stick to their homes instead of roaming around and increasing the chances of getting infected.
“Break the Chain, Stay Home, Save Mankind” is one such message sent out by Assam Police to keep people indoors amid the rising cases of the pandemic.
It needs mention here that a stronger police force has been deployed everywhere to monitor limited movement. Directions have been given to punish the violators of lockdown.
The lockdown that ends on April 15 has become a pain for both the public and the administration. While authorities are trying their best to keep people at homes, some people are coming out in search of essentials or for some other purpose.
Corona Update:
Assam currently has 26 COVID-19 positive patients, of which Golaghat reported the highest number of cases, 9. Goalpara, Cachar, Karimganj, North Lakhimpur, Guwahati, Nalbari, Morigaon and South Salmara. Barring the Guwahati patient, all the 25 persons are attendees of the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi.
1529 people from Assam have been tested for COVID-19. 5,846 people have completed the quarantine period of 28 days, 567 people, who are symptomatic have been hospitalized, 73,510 people who are asymptomatic are under home quarantine. There are a total of 1342 facilities currently.
Assam Chief Secretary, Kumar Sanjay Krishna tweeted the fighures and posted, "Latest Updates on figures and medical response related to COVID-19 outbreak, for the people of Assam to stay informed. data-focusable="true">#AssamfightsCorona data-focusable="true">#IndiaFightsCorona data-focusable="true">#StayHomeStaySafe #COVID19"
Meanwhile, according to the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, India has a total of 2784 active cases of COVID-19. 212 people have been either discharged or have recovered from the illness and so far 75 people have died of the virus.
