ASSAM: 169 COMPLAINTS OF CRIME AGAINST WOMEN RECEIVED IN 181 WOMEN HELPLINE

Since the launch of 181 women helpline number by the Assam government on March 29, as many as 169 complaints of crime against women have been received by the helpline number designed to help women in distress.

It may be mentioned here that maximum complaints were received from Kamrup district followed by Nagaon district.

The helpline has received and answered around 2,000 phone calls which also include prank calls and obscene calls.

Funnily enough, the helpline number has also received calls requesting recharge of mobile phones.
