Following an act of vandalism by some miscreants in a temple, the Hailakandi district in Assam police arrested two youths involved in the incident. The incident took place at Shiv temple at Singhola Basti under Lakhinagar Police Post under Lala Police station on Friday.

On receipt of the information, Incharge of Lakhinagar Police Post followed by the Incharge, Lala Police Station and Additional SP (Hq.) rushed to the place of incident. Later, the Circle Officer, Lala also arrived at the spot. Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath revealed that during preliminary investigation it was found that the Shiv temple did not have any boundary wall or fencing and anyone can easily enter without any obstacle. "One trishul was seen  bent and some pieces of broken earthen lamps were seen lying scattered nearby.

Fresh cow dung was also noticed within the premises," said Nath. Incensed over the issue, some agitated locals resorted to road blockade near the temple. As the police officers were trying to pacify the mob, at that moment an Alto car came from the opposite direction and then the mob attempted to attack the vehicle. Immediately the police and other security personnel swung into action and chased and dispersed the violent mob to defuse the situation in Assam.
