Two more COVID-19 patients have lost their lives today in Assam. The two include Late Aolepshi Jamir (57) of Kamrup Metro and Late Swapan Saha (45) of Darrang.
Taking stock of the situation the state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "I mourn the demise of two more #COVID19">
Assam reported 1348 new COVID-19 cases and four deaths in the last 24 hours pushing the state’s total to 36,295. The death toll has climbed up to 94. The positivity rate is at a low of 7.11 percent, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.
Of the 36,295 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 8368 are still active and 27,832 have recovered so far. Of the new cases reported on Wednesday, 348 were from Kamrup (Metro) and 127 Kamrup (Rural) district. A total of 18941 were conducted across the state in last 24 hours.
Meanwhile, 1214 patients were discharged on July 29th, 2020. The minister further claimed that the recovery rate has gone up to 76.77 percent.
Meanwhile, the patients, who succumbed to the lethal virus, are Bimal Paul (78) from Cachar, Hema Devi (77) from Tinsukia and S.A.W. Hussain (85) and Debari Karmakar (40) from Jorhat.

The COVID-19 positivity rate was 6.98 percent on July 24th, 2020 which was 5.25 percent on July 23rd, 2020, 5 percent on July 20th, 2020 and 9.2 percent on July 21st, 2020.
The state crossed 20,000-mark in COVID-19 cases on July 16th, 2020 while crossed the 1000-mark in 60 days. It reported the first case on March 31st, 2020.

India has recorded 15,83,792 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 34,193 deaths. Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 64.4 percent. Globally, there have been over 1.69 crore confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 6.63 lakh people have died so far.
Among the states, Maharashtra is the first state to cross 13 thousand deaths. It has recorded 146433 active corona cases, 239755 cured and 14463 deaths. The western state is followed by Delhi and Tamil Nadu. Delhi has 10770 active corona cases, 118633 cured and 3907 deaths. Tamil Nadu has 57490 active cases, 3741 deaths. Gujarat with 13535 active COVID-19 cases, 43195 cured and 2396 deaths.
