The Nalbari and Hojai Police have apprehended 3 covid19 patients who escaped from the quarantine facilities in Sarusajai centre, Guwahati, Assam. The police caught after a thorough search and investigation.
The 3 patients are named Hamidul Ahmed and Shajahal Ali of Nalbari. The third patient, Md Saidul Alam is from Hojai.
Taking stock of the matter, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has thanked the Nalbari and Hojai Police "for apprehending them in time". "The patients shall attract punitive measures", said Sarma.
The incident happened at a time when the Covid19 cases have increased in the state to 154 with 49 cases recorded in a single day on May 19th. It remains to see how the patients might have affected others after escaping from the quarantine centre. The govt is yet to make any announcements regarding the contact history of the escapees. However, the issue has increased the workload of the already stressed state machinery, which has been fighting day and night to contain the spread of corona. What actions are taken against the patients that will be understood in the times to come?

The latest being, 3 new corona positive cases have been found in the state of Assam. The total patient count has gone up to 157 so far with 41 discharged. There are 110 active cases with 4 deaths and 2 migrated cases. The positives are all detected from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre.
Taking stock of the matter, Assam’s Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has advised people to maintain social distance. “I request all to maintain social distancing, must wear masks, and wash your hands frequently”, said Sarma.
