A joint operation by police and armed forces resulted in the arrest of three National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S) cadres during operations conducted over the last two days in Chirang district of Assam.
During operations conducted on the banks of the Bengtol Aai river under the Runikhata Police Station in Chirang district of lower Assam, the authorities were able to nab as many as 3 members of the proscribed outfit, along with arms and ammunition.
Yesterday, the police were able to nab two linkmen of the NDFB (S). An English-crafted pistol, along with 4 rounds of live ammunition was recovered from the linkmen of the outfit.
The nabbed linkmen have been identified as Sansuma Mushahary (23), a local residing in Santipur village, and Petrush Narzary (50), a resident a Vishpani under the Ranikhata Police Station.
Chirang Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh told media persons that acting on a tip-off, the joint team of police and army conducted the operation on the bank of the Aie river on Wednesday night.
Amid the ongoing operation, a cadre of the outfit was nabbed at the Dadgiri market, on Thursday. The cadre has been identified as Laben Mushahary alias Laben (28), who was carrying a sizable amount of Bhutanese as well as Indian notes.
According to reports, Laben was carrying out extortion for the NDFB (S) in the surrounding areas. He has been presented at the district Court today.
