Assam: 3 prisoners escape from Karimganj Jail

3 prisoners have escaped from the Karinganj jail in Assam. The names of the escapes are Wahid Ali, Mantak Ahmed and Faijur Rahman. The incident has created overall concerns in the security of the jail.

The trio was brought into the prison on June 10th and June 13th. As such, they were kept in quarantine. In the midnight, they broke the window and climbed the big jail wall to escape.

The 2 escapees Wahid Alid and Mantak Ahmed belong to Assam Karimganj's Bazariksra and Hafaniyat respectively. Both are a car thief. The other Fajujur's case is from Badarpur and he belongs to Faikrabasti Hojai.

This is not the first time inmates have escaped from the Assam Karaimganj jail and within 2-3 another incident like this ha happened. It was in February when a similar incident of escape had happened when the prisoners climbed the wall and escape in Assam.

The Jail Superidented addressed the concerns of these repeated incidents. Wahid and Mantak have a long history of stealing cars and they have already been jailed once for this". He further stated that such an escape has been possible, as the "jail has become old and there's a lack of security personnel to monitor".

Meanwhile, a 40-year old man in Assam has died from head injuries after trying to flee from a quarantine centre on knowing that he was tested from coronavirus. The deceased had travel history from Odisha and was lodged under a make-shift facility in his own village in Bongaigaon.

The deceased and one other person had tested Covid-19 positive on Tuesday. He was informed about it and an ambulance was sent to transfer both these patients to a hospital.
