Three Assam youths were arrested on Thursday in Tinsukia district of Assam for hoisting flags of the proscribed outfit, the United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).
It may be mentioned here that the three youths had allegedly strung up flags of the banned outfit in front of the Panitola Higher Secondary School. The three errant youths have been identified as Himadri gogoi (aged 21), Hirakjyoti Baruah (aged 22), and Hirakjyoti Phukan (aged 22).
The Tinsukia authorities also found an ULFA emblem and a book on the subject of the militant organization in their possession.
Asif Ahmed, a senior police official said that an operation to nab the culprits was launched as soon as the report of an ULFA flag flying in the area was received early in the morning at 5:30 am.
